Thanks for checking out my black cat kids’ onesie free crochet pattern. I wanted to make my daughter a nice warm Halloween costume this year and came up with the black cat onesie. The best part is that it can also be worn as pyjamas all year round too! Unlike a costume she would wear once then outgrow by next Halloween, she can really get some use out of this one and wear it again and again.
Black cat kids onesie description
The black cat kids’ onesie is suitable for children aged 2 to 10 years. The crochet pattern includes 8 different sizes and has handy tips on how to alter the length of the torso, legs and sleeves so you can easily adjust for the perfect fit. The all-in-one pyjamas is designed to be loose fitting for comfort. It can also be worn as a Halloween costume. The hooded onesie is warm and cosy and features fun cat’s ears, tail and whiskers.
How to crochet a kids cat costume
The black cat kids’ onesie crochet pattern is easy skill level. You will need to know all your basic crochet stiches as well as having good sewing skills. The onesie itself is made in one-piece. The cat tail and ears are then sewn on at the end. You’ll also need some basic tapestry skills for the cat’s whiskers. To make the crochet jumpsuit I used aran (weight 4) yarn in 2 colours, 5 buttons and a small amount of toy stuffing for the tail. I also used a 5mm crochet hook and tapestry needle. Gauge is very important for this crochet pattern. It is essential you make a swatch before you start and check your gauge on the garment after each section. Skipping this step could result in your onesie not fitting your child.
