Thanks for checking out my free Christmas coffee cozy crochet pattern. I’m a self confessed coffee addict so couldn’t resist making myself a coffee cosy. Now my coffee will be warmer for longer when I’m out and about in the cold winter weather. These coffee cosy’s are super quick and easy to make, perfect for stocking fillers and craft fairs. I’m really pleased with how it turned out and will definitely be making more!
Christmas coffee cosy description
The coffee cozy should fit snuggly on most coffee cups. I’ve tried it on a few different sizes at home and it’s fitted them all. That being said, I’d recommend using an acrylic yarn with a little stretch to it to be sure. The Christmas coffee cosy has a lovely texture and is topped with a holly appliqué to make it more ‘Christmasy’
How to crochet a Christmas coffee cosy
To make the Christmas coffee cosy I used DK (weight 3) yarn in 3 different colours. I choose taupe for the cosy, then green and red for the holly appliqué. Also I used two different Crochet hooks. Firstly a 4mm hook for the coffee cosy, then a 3mm hook for the holly. Be sure to check your gauge before starting if you want your cosy to fit your cup and your appliqué to fit your cosy. As I mentioned earlier I used acrylic yarn as it has a little more stretch than some other fibres. This ensures it will stretch to fit different sized cups.
The crochet pattern is pretty easy overall. You’ll need to know your basic crochet stitches as well as the cluster stitch. You’ll also need to know how to work into front and back posts as well as being able to increase and decrease. The coffee cosy is worked up in one piece and then the appliqué needs to be sewn on. The appliqué is made in 3 parts so you will need to be confident at sewing to complete the project.
