Thanks for checking out my Cupcake kids apron crochet pattern. With homeschooling now being a big part of our family life we’ve been cooking a lot more as a family. We have been learning new recipes and learning how to weigh ingredients, and generally having fun while learning in the kitchen. This inspired me to design and crochet this adorable cupcake kids apron. My girls love it and I hope yours will too!
Kids apron description
The cupcake kids apron should fit most children aged between 3 and 8. It’s been tried and tested on children between these age groups and fits nicely on them all. The dimensions of the apron are 39cm wide by 50cm high. The children’s apron has cupcake detail on the waist and the bottom trim. Like a traditional apron it just pops on over the head and has straps at the back to tie up.
How to crochet a kids apron
The Cupcake kids apron crochet pattern is intermediate skill level. You’ll need to know basic crochet stitches as well as increases and decreases and it incorporates the cupcake stitch. Additionally you’ll need to know how to work into the front and back posts as well as being able to work into the raw edges for the border. To make the children’s apron I used 5 colours of aran (weight 4) yarn and a 5mm crochet hook. Don’t forget it’s important to remember to do your gauge swatch before starting if you want your apron to fit your child.

Abbreviations
ch – Chain
sp – Space
st/sts – Stitch/stitches
sl st – Slip stitch
sc – Single crochet
dc – Double crochet
flo – Front loop only
2sc/2dc – Increase (2 stitches in one space)
dc5tog – Decrease (double crochet 5 together)
Gauge / tension
Gauge is important as everyone crochets with a different tension. Therefore, if your 2” swatch doesn’t match up you can change your hook size to suit your tension.
2” x 2” = 4 rows of 7 dc
Pattern notes
I do not count chains in my stitch count.
Numbers in brackets are the number of rows/stitches.
Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces. eg. (sc, inc) would mean sc in first stitch then inc increase in next stitch. eg. (sc x2, inc) would mean sc in first stitch, single crochet in second stitch, then increase in next stitch.
Supplies
You will need the following supplies to complete the crochet project (links will take you directly to my recommended supplies)
– Stitch markers (optional)
