Crochet Patterns for Kids

Large Butterfly Applique Free Crochet Pattern
Copyright © Hookfully

Have you been searching for a large butterfly applique free crochet pattern? Here she is! This easy crochet applique is perfect for embellishing kids projects for Spring and Summer. This big, flat butterfly has a happy face with cute antennae, and large heart shaped butterfly wings. As you may know I have a passion for designing appliques lately and am making them to fill up my Busy Lizzy Patchwork Blanket. My insect loving daughter loves it, and has named this butterfly Bella. I also have some other free animal applique patterns including a bunny and a baby chick.

How to crochet a large butterfly

The large butterfly applique is explained step by step in an easy written crochet pattern. As well as using all your basic crochet stitches, you will also need to make some bobble stitches for the butterflies antennae. The butterfly applique measures 14cm wide by 15cm high and is crocheted in several pieces and sewn up together as you work. Overall, the big butterfly is a very fast, easy crochet pattern that’s great for using up scraps of yarn.
