Turtle Body

Make 2 bodies, 1 in green & 1 in multicolour yarn.

Round 1
  • sc x 8 into a magic ring
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • Do not weave in MR tails

8 sts

Round 2
  • 2sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

16 sts

Round 3
  • (2sc, sc) 8 times
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

24 sts

Round 4
  • (2sc, sc x 2) 8 times
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

32 sts

Rounds 5 – 10
  • sc x 32
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • Fasten off after round 10

6 rounds

Round 11
  • With both pieces inside out, tie the magic ring yarn ends together
  • Fold green body over multicolour body
  • Use beige yarn
  • Join both pieces by sl st inside loops together (green BLO & multicolour FLO)
  • Fasten off & weave in ends

Turtle Feet

Crochet 4 turtles feet using beige yarn.

Round 1
  • sc x 8 in a magic ring
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

  • Fasten off & leave tail for sewing

Assembly
  • Sew one side of foot to multicolour R10 unworked FLO & R11 sl sts

  • Each foot will cover 3 sts
  • Gap of 10 sts between front feet
  • Gap of 3 sts between front & back feet
  • Gap of 4 sts between back feet

Turtles heads

Make 2 heads using beige yarn.

Round 1
  • sc x 8 in a magic ring
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

Round 2
  • 2sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

Round 3 – 5
  • sc x 16
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

3 rounds

Round 6
  • sc2tog x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • Add safety eyes to R4, 7 stitches apart
  • Fill with toy stuffing

8 sts

Round 7
  • sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

8 sts

Round 8
  • sc x 8
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1
  • Do not stuff the neck
  • Push this final round flat and sew closed

Assembly
  • Sew the neck to the body in the same way as the feet
  • Push head up and sew to the body
  • Turn inside-out & repeat on the other side
  • Make tapestry mouths over R5, 3 sts wide
