Thanks for checking out my sun appliqué crochet pattern. I’m currently working on a granny square blanket for my daughters. I plan to fill each square with a different appliqué until I have a big blanket full of the things they love most!

The sun appliqué measures 10cm. I used 2 different colors to crochet the sun appliqué. You can use your appliqué to brighten up almost any of your crochet projects, I’d love to see what you’ve done with yours!

How to crochet a sun applique

The sun appliqué crochet pattern is easy skill level. You’ll need to know basic crochet stitches, increases and how to color change. Additionally you’ll need to know how to work into the magic ring.

To make the sun appliqué I used 2 colors of DK (weight 3) yarn and a 4mm crochet hook. The whole appliqué uses just 5g (16yds) of yarn.

• dc – Double crochet
• 2dc – 2 dc in 1 space (increase)
• hdc – Half double crochet

• MR – Magic ring
• sc – Single crochet
• 2sc – 2 sc in 1 space (increase)
• sl st – Slip stitch
• st/sts – Stitch/Stitches
• tr – Treble crochet

Gauge & Size

• Gauge: 2” x 2” = 11 rows of 9 sc
• Finished size: 10cm circumference

Pattern notes

• Chains and finishing slip stitches are not included in stitch count.
• Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces. For example, “sc, dc” would mean “single crochet in first space, double crochet in next space”.
