  • ch – Chain
  • MR – Magic ring

  • sc – Single crochet
  • 2sc – 2 sc in 1 space (increase)
  • sc2tog – sc 2 together (decrease)
  • sl st – Slip stitch
  • st/sts – Stitch/Stitches

Sizes & Gauge

  • 4” x 4” gauge swatch = 8 rows of 8 sc
  • Finished size – Width 7″ x Height 12″ Diameter 18.5″

Pattern notes

  • Chains & finishing slip stitches are not included in stitch count.
  • Stitches separated with a comma are to be made in separate spaces. EG. “sc, 2sc” would mean “sc in first space, 2sc in next space”.
  • Change colour while completing the previous stitch. You do not need to carry the yarn around between colour changes. You can work ‘in the round’ by excluding finishing slip stitches and chains.
  • Use tapestry eyes only for babies or young children.

  • Use white (A) yarn
  • ch x 7 then start in second ch from hook
  • 4sc, sc x 4, 4sc
  • sc x 4 in chains on opposite side
  • sl st to first st & ch x 1

Unicorn Horn

Round 1
  • Use yellow (B) yarn

  • Sew horn onto the head

Unicorn Ears

Make 2 unicorn ears:

Round 1
  • Use white (A) yarn
  • sc x 6 into a magic ring
  • sl st to first st, fasten off & leave tail for sewing

Assembly
  • Fold the circle in half & sew the bottom to create an ear shape
  • Sew the ears on R19, 2 unworked stitches between ear and horn

Unicorn Mane

Make 3 hair curls

Row 1
  • Use fruit salad (C) yarn
  • ch x 11 then start in second ch from hook
  • 2sc x 10
  • Fasten off leaving tail for sewing

Assembly
  • Sew 3 parts of the mane behind the horn

Pocket

Round 1
  • Use fruit salad (C) yarn
  • ch x 5 then start in second ch from hook
  • 4sc, sc x 2, 4sc
  • sc x 2 in chains on opposite side
